Advocacy & Lobbying

As part of our advocacy and lobbying efforts, we engage in dialogue and correspondence with representatives of the German federal government, state governments, ministries, members of parliament from centrist parties, and representatives of the EU Commission and the European Parliament. Our aim is to strengthen internal and external security in Germany and Europe.

We also maintain contacts with experts, academics, and other lobbyists for the exchange of experiences and professional discussions on internal and external security.

In the service of national and European security, we further engage with international partners, including ministers, parliamentarians, diplomats, experts, and journalists.

To this end, we network, engage in dialogue, and present suggestions, ideas, concepts, and demands to the relevant stakeholders.

We do this within the scope of our capacities. As our capacities grow, so too will our activities in advocacy and lobbying—and, presumably, the impact we can achieve.

Currently, our chairman Andrej Novak and deputy chairman Ihor Zakharchenko are responsible for this area of activity, supported on an ad hoc basis by other board members and association members.

In June/July 2025, we held discussions with, among others:

  • Germany:
    • Federal government: A close associate of Friedrich Merz in the Chancellery
    • State governments: One minister-president (Union)
    • Bundestag: Two security policy experts from the Union
    • Former officials: A former minister of state at the Foreign Office (SPD)
    • Experts: Four German experts on security, defence, and Eastern Europe
  • International:
    • Government representatives: Prime minister of a Southeast European EU & NATO country, foreign minister of a Baltic EU & NATO country, a senior government official from an EU candidate country
    • Former officials: Former defence minister of Ukraine
    • Experts: Seven experts from Europe (including Ukraine and the United Kingdom) & the USA
